PARKS

There is no shortage of recreational facilities and opportunities in and around Frisco.  Proud winner of the 2006 Texas Recreation and Parks Society Gold Medal Award, the city boasts twenty-one park sites encompassing 273 acres of developed parkland.

The parks are equipped with soccer fields, baseball diamonds, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, and playground equipment.

The 63-acre Frisco Commons was awarded the "2005 Park Design Excellence Award", and was rated, "The Metroplex's Best Family Park" by Dallas Child Magazine.

For those who love hiking and biking, trails are found in Oakbrook Park, Shawnee Trail, Preston Lakes Linear Park, Starwood Development Trail, and Warren Sports Complex.

Being the home of Frisco RoughRiders, Frisco also harbors a variety of sporting venues including the Dr. Pepper Ballpark with a 10,600-seat baseball stadium, which was named as the best new ballpark of 2003 and the recipient of 2003 Texas Construction award for Best Architectural Design.

The Toyota Stadium or “Pizza Hut Park”, as it was first introduced in 2005, can house 20,500 spectators.  It is primarily used by FC Dallas but also hosts concerts and local football games.

The Dr. Pepper Arena, on the other hand, is a venue for both hockey and basketball and is being used by the NBA Texas Legends and NHL Dallas Stars.  The Dallas Stars NHL team is headquartered in Frisco, and the team practices at the Dr Pepper Arena there. The Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League have been based in Frisco since the fall of 2003, and shortly afterward the NAHL moved its main offices to Frisco. The Tornado play their games at the Dr Pepper Arena.

The Dallas Cowboys will move their corporate headquarters to Frisco in time for the 2016 NFL football season. The 91-acre complex will be located on the corner of the N. Dallas Tollway and Warren Parkway. It will feature state of the art training facilities and practice fields, a luxury hotel, high-end retail shopping and restaurants, and a 12,000 seat indoor stadium.
